So, as mentioned in our blog kickoff, the Us in Orlando family doesn't currently live in Orlando. We're currently residents of the Garden State, living just across the Hudson from the Financial District and commuting to the city each day. While there are a lot of amazing things about life in this area, the daily commute, high cost of living, and lack of local family are not on the list. Which is why we're returning to Orlando in May (so I suppose for the next few weeks this blog should be called "we were once, and will be again, in Orlando." ;) )
Determined to make this as proactive of a move as possible, we started packing two weeks ago. This past weekend we hired a sitter for Baby UIO and spent 12 hours packing and hauling. Having moved as a couple/family five times in four years, I'm amazed that we haven't gotten this down to a science (or truly embraced minimalism) yet. But, without further ado, here's what - and how - we decluttered as we packed. In total, we parted with 276 items this time around.
A smattering of some of our donations this time around
Blog posts are all by Mrs. Us in Orlando unless otherwise noted. A former military kid, she's glad to have landed in the sunshine state and enjoys year-round summer sports, making every book a "beach read", waterside walks with the fam, and iced lattes.
