Our stuff was delivered to Orlando on May 31st and for the past three weeks, we've been fully living into the Orlando experience. Honestly, it's been everything we hoped for - we've gone to the farmers market, we've had friends over to grill, we've walked to the grocery store every couple of days, we've cooked a range of new meals, we've spent time with family. It's been a dream.
In the midst of all that dreaming, I forgot about the blog. And for a little while, I forgot about personal finance.
While not blogging, here's a few finance-aligned things I did that are keeping us on track
Also, we've embraced a number of free things in our area! We've gone to see the swans by the lake nearly every day, we've tried a few playgrounds, we had a popsicle in the park, and Baby UIO now has his own library card and we're doing the summer reading challenge together!
Dog UIO and I have also rediscovered a love of running and have lapped three of the nearby lakes as we explore different running paths.
How's your summer going so far?
I recently turned 31. In previous years, I've set goals about achievement - a raise, a move, a conference, a profile, an acceptance, a degree. Since Baby UIO joined my life, I've been doing a lot of self discovery and evaluation about achievement and found this: it is not my motivation or my goal any longer. Instead, I'm focused on being well-rounded, kind, family-oriented, passionate, engaged. To that end, I've set goals for 31 that are aligned toward the life we are building in Orlando. Sharing them here for accountability and engagement!

home (neighborhood) goals
We've moved into a small house with a decent sized paver-patio backyard and a small and scraggly front yard. We're walking distance to most of downtown, and I'm excited for us to get invested in the community. I'm setting a few home goals this year to make sure we're enjoying our space.
Blog posts are all by Mrs. Us in Orlando unless otherwise noted. A former military kid, she's glad to have landed in the sunshine state and enjoys year-round summer sports, making every book a "beach read", waterside walks with the fam, and iced lattes.
